First solo run in forever with my old hilly route I haven’t done in ages. I love taking old routes it’s like visiting with an old friend. At one point for 10 seconds everything was perfect, the breeze, the temperature, the open space and how amazing it felt to be in that moment doing what I was doing. Amazing how those few seconds of bliss can make my whole day. :-)
What I loved about my 30 Day Paleo Challenge…
- I love that I feel like I have hope again. The past year has been difficult because even when I tried with all my heart and stayed on track I still was not losing. I was stuck and nothing was working. This made me angry and slightly rebellious. I’d go through short phases of just eating whatever I wanted in whatever quantities I wanted. It was a slippery slope. Luckily I started this challenge right on the brink of falling over the cliff. Turns out the number Chuck took down for me on day one that only he knew was 198 lbs. So close to crossing back over the 200 lb mark. By the end of this challenge I finished at 187.2 (-10.8 lbs). I haven’t been able to lose an increment of that size in forever. I am so hopeful I have finally found a key to unlock this last part of my weight loss journey.
It’s brisk, clear, cold and sunny today with a great breeze! Of course, just a gorgeous choice for spending an hour running. Now I feel all refreshed and relaxed. Such a great way to start the second half of my day! :)
In other news, today is day 29 of my paleo challenge and I’m getting excited to see the results. I’m pretty sure day 30 needs to be officially in the books before a weigh-in comparison so I’m looking forward to posting my results on Friday morning. :) Mentally I’m prepared for anything. I’m already focusing on all the positive non-scale related pluses that I like about this lifestyle just in case the results don’t live up to my expectations on the scale. Win-Win!
I love weekends because then I have time to experiment making things like these coconut/banana/blueberry paleo waffles! They were delicious and filling! :)
Today is day 24 of my paleo challenge and I was bummed when I realized that this is the last week of the 30 day challenge until I immediately realized — duh… 30 days was just a jumping off point — nothing has to change or end. I guess the momentary disappointment that my 30 days was almost up is a good sign that I’ve taken to eating this way and don’t feel like I’m deprived or missing out on anything in particular. :)
Lunch run done! Thank goodness mother nature noticed I brought my running stuff with me today. Rain cleared just in time. :-)
Made some great dinners this week, but not without sacrificing the safety of my left hand which currently has a “V” shaped cut from my crinkle cutter (aka ninja star maker), a burn from the grill, and a cut from slamming my finger in a cabinet… at least everything turned out tasty!
PS last night I discovered something magical… fresh pineapple broiled in coconut oil… not only does it smell amazing but it tastes AHHHH-MAZING…
Lunch run went great. We have overcast weather that wants to rain but isn’t quite there yet. Absolutely perfect if you ask me. No watch today so instead used Runtastic on my phone. By the time we got back our office was just getting together for birthday celebration for someone in my office, but I wasn’t even tempted. Partly because I just plain don’t want it and partly because I’ve never been a huge fan of Rocky Road ice cream (marshmallows and ice cream aren’t friends in my book). Today is also officially two weeks on paleo. Still loving it! :)
Post run breakfast…holy shmoly…6 mile trail run and it was not easy today. Turns out body pump made everything sore and when running I felt like I was wearing a lead suit. But I did it and am enjoying being sore because it means I put in some good work yesterday. I wish I could afford crossfit but for now body pump will do just fine. :-)
Quick bite to eat (including a homemade paleo muffin), 20 min warm-up on the elliptical, and an hour of body pump! Woohoo! I like kicking my weekend off like this!
